Runway To Hope had the distinct honor of receiving the Award for Excellence in Fundraising by a Nonprofit Organization by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. This award among many other prestigious titles was presented in a very special ceremony on National Philanthropy Day, November 18, 2011 at the Ritz Carlton hosted by WKMG’s Lauren Rowe.

Runway To Hope is humbled to receive this recognition and be considered amongst so many extraordinary philanthropists in the community, especially in its first year.

Tomasino’s New York Pizzeria Grand Opening Benefiting Runway To Hope

Tomasino’s pizzeria, a local family-owed an operated restaurant, proudly opened its doors to the Central Florida community and generously donated all proceeds to Runway To Hope. The day’s activities included face painting, pizza making, a stilt-walker, belly dance, break-dancers, a bounce house, a caricature artist, of course a pizza eating contest and free slices from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

For the official ceremony Runway To Hope’s very own Evy had the honor of cutting the ribbon.

A heartfelt thank you to Liz and Jonny for their kind efforts and hard work and thank you to all those who came out to support!

Largest Fundraising Events in Central Florida – Orlando Business Journal 2011 Partners in Philanthropy

Among the 25 largest fundraising events in Central Florida, Runway to Hope was ranked number 10 for 2011 based on funds raised at the Runway to Hope Spring Fashion Soiree 2011. Proceeds benefited pediatric oncology programs at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Florida Hospital for Children.

Even in its infancy, Runway To Hope has made a significant difference in the way the community is involved with the cause of pediatric cancer, and infused a new energy in the world of fundraising in Central Florida. Recognizing a true need Mark and Josie NeJame founded Runway To Hope in September 2010 with a mission to serve and provide direct support to children and families in the Central Florida community whom have been impacted by pediatric cancer.

Runway To Hope has fostered collaboration by contributing to both local pediatric cancer hospitals, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Florida Hospital for Children.

In March 2011 Runway To Hope presented its inaugural signature event, The Runway To Hope Spring Fashion Soiree. The highlight of the evening was a special fashion show featuring roughly 30 brave children, ages 2 to 18, all who are currently battling or have overcome cancer. Proceeds of $310,000 directly benefited Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Florida Hospital for Children. Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children plans to open a pediatric neuroncology department, one of few in the country today. Florida Hospital for Children will open the first bone marrow unit in Central Florida.

In less than one year, the efforts of Runway To Hope have not only financially bettered pediatric cancer care and given patients in our own backyard experiences of a lifetime, but also empowered the members of the community to make a difference. Runway To Hope’s partnership with both hospitals has sparked conversation between doctors at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Florida Hospital for Children, and collaboration is occurring where it did not before.
